Lord-Lieutenant's Cadets

Each year the Lord Lieutenant appoints a cadet drawn from the Sea Cadets, Army Cadets or the Air Training Corps to serve as his Cadet. They assist the Lord Lieutenant as required, particularly on ceremonial duties or during Royal visits and act as ambassadors for their organisations. Cadet Warrant Officer Caitlyn Mc Vittie of 1371 Girvan Squadron ATC was recently appointed as the cadet for the incoming year. Cadet Sergeant James Sawers stood down from the post after a very successful year during which he carried out his duties to a very high standard and gave great support to the Lord Lieutenant. The Cadets are pictured below with Mr Duncan.

Presentation of British Empire Medal to Mrs Evelyn Porter BEM, Saltcoats

Mrs Evelyn Porter of Saltcoats was awarded the British Empire Medal by HM The Queen in the Birthday Honours List in 2015 for services to the Girls Brigade in Saltcoats. The formal presentation of the Honour was carried out by the Lord Lieutenant on Sunday 15th November in the North Parish Church, Saltcoats.

Ayr Guildry Dinner, Savoy Park Hotel, Ayr

The Lord Lieutenant joined many guests at Ayr Guildry Dinner which was held in the Savoy Park Hotel on 13th November. Ayr Guildry dates back to 1325 and is the oldest voluntary organisation in the Burgh. It makes a significant contribution to civic life in the town. Presentation of British Empire Medal to William Wallace Jones BEM, Kilbirnie, by Lord Lieutenant, November 2015

Mr William Wallace Jones BEM was presented with his British Empire Medal by the Lord Lieutenant at the Moorpark House Hotel Kilbirnie on 4 November 2015. Mr Jones, who is a Church Organist, was awarded the British Empire Medal by Her Majesty in the Birthday Honours list in 2015 for his services to music in North Ayrshire. Mr Peter Reilly BEM of Saltcoats was awarded the British Empire Medal in HM The Queens Birthday Honours List in 2015 for services to the community in Saltcoats. The formal presentation took place on Sunday 8th November 2015 in the Seamill Hydro Hotel. Deputy Lieutenant Evelyn Mc Cann, many friends, and family were present to recognise his achievements and to pass on their congratulations to Mr Reilly who also celebrated his 100th birthday earlier in the year. The Provost of North Ayrshire Cllr Joan Sturgeon was also present to add her congratulations.
