Commonwealth Day Flag Raising Ceremony, and Act of Remembrance, County Buildings, Ayr - 14 March 2016
The Lord Lieutenant recently took part in a Flag Raising Ceremony and Act of Remembrance at County Buildings, Ayr. The event was organised and supported by South Ayrshire Council. The Lord Lieutenant was assisted in his duties by children from Invergarven School, Girvan.
Commonwealth Day is held on the second Monday in March each year. It is an opportunity for individuals, communities, and organisations to promote the shared Commonwealth values of peace, democracy and equality. This year fifty three countries came together to celebrate the event.
Diamond Wedding, Mr and Mrs McGill, Kilmarnock
Deputy Lieutenant William Stafford presented a Special Anniversary Message to Mr and Mrs McGill of Kilmarnock on their recent Diamond Wedding Anniversary. The couple were also presented with a floral arrangement by the Provost of East Ayrshire, Cllr Jim Todd and Cllr Hugh Ross.

Mrs Rosina Nimmo from Stewarton recently celebrated her 100th birthday and was presented with a Special Anniversary Message by Deputy Lieutenant, Erica Lockett. She was also presented with a basket of flowers by the Provost of East Ayrshire, Cllr Jim Todd and Cllr Eoghann MacColl.

Mr and Mrs Stewart from Auchinleck recently celebrated their Diamond Wedding anniversary and were presented with a Special Anniversary Message by Deputy Lieutenant, Nancy Mortimer. One Hundredth Birthday, Mrs K Lundie, Galston.
Mrs K Lundie of Galston celebrated her 100th birthday, or as a leap year baby, her 25th birthday on 29 February 2016. She was presented with a Special Anniversary Message by Deputy Lieutenant William Stafford and a basket of flowers by the Provost of East Ayrshire, Cllr Jim Todd and Cllr Robert Mc Dill.
