Opening of Megan’s Space Office and Haven – Irvine – 30th September 2025

The Lord Lieutenant, Sheriff Iona McDonald OBE officially opened Megans Space Office and Haven in Irvine on 30th September.
Megan’s Space was set up in October 2019 after Megan Copeland, a 20 year old student mental health nurse, tragically completed suicide following 7 years of mental and hormonal dysfunction. Since then, they have supported over 1000 individuals.
After her death her family decided to create Megan’s Space as a solution to the lack of specialist support available and unreasonable waiting lists, to help others who are struggling with their mental health and provide timely and effective interventions that can offer hope and recovery to both the young person and the community supporting that young person alike.
The charities ambition is to have no young suicides and to this end their primary aim is to prevent self-harm and unnecessary loss of young lives by providing mental wellbeing education and coping strategies and where needed therapeutic interventions early in a young person’s episode of dysregulation.
To this end they offer support for classic anxiety, low mood, trauma, and are also developing expertise in areas such as Personality Disorder and Premenstrual Dysphoric Disorder (PMDD). In addition, they are actively partnering with schools and colleges and deliver awareness, education and prevention to young people and their families.
