On Thursday 6th August, Trustees and Members of the Girvan Town Team met with William Stafford, Vice Lord-Lieutenant, and Ritchie Conaghan, Deputy Lieutenant, to co-sign a Memorandum of Understanding launching a new Community Bursary.

 

There is a concern that a number of people from Girvan and the surrounding villages who are worthy of recognition may not be able attend Royal Events supported by the Lieutenancy because of their individual financial circumstances.

 

This new initiative aims to help address that, creating greater equality of access to Royal and local events while recognising individual achievements and celebrating the people who make such a valuable contribution to the community.

William Stafford, Vice Lord-Lieutenant, said: “The Lieutenancy are extremely grateful to the Girvan Town Team for their support with this initiative and I hope that it will allow greater access to Royal Events over the next year or so.”
