New Year's Honours List 2019

Her Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant of Ayrshire and Arran, Sheriff Iona McDonald sends her congratulations and best wishes to three Ayrshire residents who were recognised in the New Year’s Honours List, which was published on Friday 28th December.

The deserving individuals are;


Commander of the Order of the British Empire - CBE
Ms Susan Douglas-Scott, Prestwick, Chair, ILF Scotland. For services to Human Rights, Particularly Disability and LGBT Issues.


Officer of the Order of the British Empire - OBE
Professor Daniel Grelan Gorman, Kilmarnock. For voluntary service to the Promotion of Science and Engineering and STEM Education in Kilmarnock and Ayrshire.


Member of the Order of the British Empire - MBE
Mr Joseph Herd, Kilmaurs, Social Justice Manager, St Luke’s High School, Barrhead.  For services to Community Cohesion, Education and charity in East Renfrewshire.


The Lord-Lieutenant said “I am delighted that these three Ayrshire residents have been recognised for their work both locally and on a national level. The diverse nature of the areas in which they work highlights the range of talent and professionalism that is to be found across the County.”
