Mrs Jean Dunlop, now a resident of Maidens, celebrated her 100th birthday on Saturday 23rd May 2026 and was presented with a card from Their Majesties The King and Queen by Vice Lord Lieutenant William Stafford.

Born in Portpatrick, Mrs Dunlop moved to Ballantrae at an early age where she attended the local Primary and Secondary schools before studying at the University of Glasgow. Mrs Dunlop returned to Ballantrae where she married her late husband, Jack, and in time became the Head Teacher of the local Primary School.

The birthday celebrations were rounded off by parties at her Care Home and with her family in Turnberry Hotel.
