Presentation by Galloway Mountain Rescue Team – 17th April 2019

The Lord-Lieutenant, pictured above with the Provost of South Ayrshire, Cllr Helen Moonie and members of Galloway MRT, attended a talk and presentation by Galloway Mountain Rescue Team in Ayr Town Hall on Wednesday 17th April.
The talk by David Whalley BEM, MBE, was based on his life in the mountains and his involvement in mountain rescue over the past 36 years. Originally from Ayrshire David spent many years in the RAF and when based at RAF Leuchars and RAF Kinloss was involved in over 100 rescues.
Although based in Newton Stewart, Galloway MRT regularly assist with incidents in Ayrshire as the next team to the north is the Police Scotland team based in Glasgow. Four of the Galloway team members live in Ayr and the team are hoping to establish a base in Ayr in the not too distant future.
