Scottish Commemoration Panel – Presentation of Certificates of Merit

The Scottish Commemorations Panel was established by the Scottish Government in March 2013 to recommend a preferred approach for, and oversee the delivery of, Scotland's commemorations of the centenary of World War One. The various events and activities that subsequently formed part of the commemorations recognised the broad impact of war on Scotland and its people.
With an emphasis on education many schools throughout the County took part in commemorative events and in recognition of their commitment and hard work over twenty schools were awarded a Certificate of Merit. These were presented by a number of Deputy Lieutenants during November 2019 and Deputy Lieutenant David Lacy is pictured below with children from Loanhead Primary, Kilmarnock following presentation of one of the Certificates.

Deputy Lieutenant Nancy Mortimer is also pictured below with some of the children from Dalmellington Primary School who carried out various curricular activities linked to the commemorations.

The Lord-Lieutenant, Sheriff Iona Mc Donald sends her best wishes and congratulations to all of the schools involved.
