The Lord Lieutenant and the Brazilian Consul to Scotland recently joined local dignitaries at Largs Primary School to unveil the Spirit of Brazil tartan.

The tartan was created through a design competition launched by the Brazilian Consulate in Edinburgh. The goal was to create a national tartan for Brazil, celebrating the links between Brazil and Scotland as part of cultural events including the UK–Brazil Season of Culture and upcoming World Cup and Tartan Week activities. 

 

Six-year-old Indie Menzies, a Primary 1 pupil at Largs Primary School, pictured above, won the competition with her colourful concept that incorporates Brazil’s national colours and signifies unity between Brazil and Scotland.
