Deputy Lieutenant Matt Smith represented the Lieutenancy at a memorial service in Ardrossan on Sunday 24th March 2024 in memory of the 379 seamen who lost their lives when HMS Dasher sank in the Firth of Clyde on 27 March 1943, following a major internal explosion.

The event was organised by the local branch of the RBLS and was very well attended by families of survivors together with civic and parliamentary representatives.
