The Lord-Lieutenant is delighted to announce that Darvel Area Regeneration Team (DART) have been awarded the above Honour. This is the highest honour that any group can be awarded and is the equivalent of an MBE.

This is the first ever KAVS award in Ayrshire and Arran, one of only twenty awarded in Scotland and one of 260 awarded in the UK. It is therefore a magnificent achievement for the group and recognises the excellent work that they have carried out in regenerating the town, promoting community engagement, and community cohesion.

One example of their work is The Corner project (pictured below) which involved the demolition of buildings that had lain derelict for many years and the construction of a community space for outdoor markets and a performance space. The cost was nearly £1 Million which they raised from a wide range of funding sources.

The formal presentation will take place in Darvel in February next year.
