The launch of the Largs Skills Academy and three DYW (Developing Young Workforce) Ayrshire innovative school projects took place at Largs Academy on Friday 27th October and was jointly opened by the Lord-Lieutenant Sheriff Iona McDonald OBE and the Provost of North Ayrshire Cllr Anthea Dickson.It was attended by many local dignitaries, representatives of DYW Ayrshire and young people from Largs Academy.

  

The aims of the innovative school projects are to develop employability and vocational skills in the young people and equip them with the 6C’s – confidence, communication, commitment, customer services, customer care and courtesy.

 

There are five projects within the Largs Skills Academy – three of which are relatively new and being launched. The other two have been established projects 

 

• Barista Skills - Livin’ La Vida Mocha 

• Digital Media and Photography -  Learning through a Lens

• Events Management – LA Events

• Horticultural Skills – Seeds and Shovels

• Cinema – Largs Picture House
